Description

A manual wind, stainless steel and chrome plated Wakmann two button chronograph. This is a very classic two button case, two register chronograph from the mid 20th century. The beautiful, all original, silvered dial is the most handsome part to the watch. Quite often these can be plain and boring. This has original radium luminous material filled into the Arabic numbers, and the syringe style blued steel hands are surrounded by an outer red Telemeter chapter ring. The two recessed sub dials have the concentric inlaid design into them, with the constant seconds on the left, and timed minutes on the right. The center red sweep hand is for measuring the seconds while using the chronograph function.

This style of watch was popular during the war for its versatility in timing speed and distance, and went on to become popular in civilian life. The Landeron movement inside that powered the watch could be found in a number of Swiss watch makers cases from the time, including the likes of Heuer. This is a very clean original example. The dial in these watches are often damaged by dirt and or moisture, and can lose their appeal. This example is superb and original, bearing the "Swiss" stamp below the 6 o'clock marker. The case, being a mix of a steel back and chrome case can also be subject to damage, pitting and corrosion. This example is very strong, and unpolished. Overall, a superb example of a period classic chronograph watch.
