Description
A gold plated and stainless steel screw back automatic time only wrist watch. This very handsome and classic piece was made in Germany for the US Baylor company that was part of the Benrus watch group from the 1950's through to the 1970's. They also have a connection with Heuer watches from this time, a small number of which are co-signed. They were retailed across the US in the Zales jewelry stores. The watch is powered by an automatic, German made, caliber PUW 570 17 jewel unadjusted movement with approximately 40 hour power reserve. A reliable and good quality sweep seconds movement. The very handsome bullseye style dial has applied gold Arabic and pointed stick markers. The outer minute track, along with the center of the dial have a series of concentric small circles running through creating a beautiful matte appearance. There is luminous material applied to each of the hour marker positions on the seconds track, all are present and original to the watch. The gold dauphine hands are also inlaid with luminous material, original to the watch and present. The watch is presented on the Foundwell for J. Press "Rockwell" French Grey band and makes for a very handsome watch for the office or more formal occasion.
