A stunning and rare yellow gold plated and stainless steel Omega dress watch. This is a very handsome piece, and quite rare with this black cross hair dial paired with yellow gold dauphine hands and applied markers with black enamel running through the center. While the case is not oversized, it is not small either, measuring in just under thirty four millimeters. It wears well thanks in part to the small frame of the bezel and longer sloping chamfered lugs. A perfect size for a watch of this design and purpose. As Patek Philippe would say; "sensibly thin" and so will wear very well under a shirt sleeve. The watch is powered by the classic, mechanically wound, seventeen jewel, Omega calibre 610 movement, that was introduced in 1960. It is a 17 jewel, incabloc, adjusted to two positions. The snap back case-back is stainless steel case as is correct for these early gold plated models, and is in superb condition, protected by an old case back sticker that is still present. The watch overall is in exceptional condition. The case is unpolished and in exceptional, almost unworn condition, featuring very clean and sharp lines throughout. The original gold plated Omega logo crown is present. The interior of the case back is fully signed Omega, with model number 14724-SC. The movement has a 19 million serial number that dates it to 1961. The dial is great looking, with wider coffin style markers at the 3, 9, 12 position which have an ever so slightly Art Deco styled design to them. The dial has a similar look to the Constellation pie pan dials from the same period as it slopes down toward the edge. The Omega logo is applied as is the Omega script below it. In the traditional position at the foot of the dial it is printed; "Swiss Made". Being more of a dress watch, there is no luminous material applied to either hands or dial. The dial is all original and not re-finished but does have some patina through age. This can be expected from a watch now 61 years old. However, it is very appealing to the eye. This is an unusual watch and to find one in such great condition is even more so. This is a watch that will appeal to many regardless of taste or watches already in a collection.
