A stainless steel automatic military issued watch by CWC.  This is an unusual watch that seemingly came off the back of the well known and collectable 1970’s W10 model. This is however an automatic version of that manually wound watch that came out in small numbers in the 1980’s. It has all the characteristics of military watched.  Easy to read black dial with white printing, sword hands set filled with luminous material for reading at night and fix lugs in order torrent the watch going off the wrist if caught or pulled heavily on.  Hence the James Bond style watch band fitted here.

Ray Mellor founded CWC in the early 1970s. The CWC name actually gets its inspiration from the famed explorer John Cabot, an Italian explorer, known for his notable voyage from Bristol to the continent of North America in the late 1400’s.

Mellor had been the representative for Hamilton in the United Kingdom until the brand shuttered its business there. Mellor decided to establish a company of his own and maintain the military contracts that Hamilton had once had for rugged, hardy watches. Inspired by the explorer and adventurer John Cabot, Mellor called this brand Cabot Watch Company. CWC went on to have a fruitful relationship with the British military and various government organizations. These relationships included providing mechanical Valjoux-powered chronographs to the BBC for its reporters as well as a range of automatic and then quartz dive watches for the Royal Navy and Special Boat Service (SBS) British Army W10, Royal Navy 0552 & RAF 6BB.. The brand had a successful stint, issuing a range of pilot, dive, and field watches. Today, it’s owned by Silvermans in the UK, a business specializing in supplying military surplus goods

The watch is powered by an automatic caliber ETA made 2824 movement.  The ETA caliber 2824-2 is one of the most well-known and widely recognized movements in the watch industry. It is also one of the most frequently copied or ""cloned"" movements. Introduced in 1982, the 2824-2 was based on the original Eterna caliber 1427. The ""-2"" designation indicates it is the second generation of this movement.
Many watch enthusiasts consider the 2824 a ""workhorse"" movement - reliable, durable, and a standard in the industry. It was used by brands such as Glycine and Doxa.

The T in a circle on the dial indicated that the watch is made with Tritium, not any other form of radioactive material.  This is the same as the German army applied the “3H” on their dials for the same reason.

The watch overall is in excellent condition.  The case is unpolished, the dial perfect.  If you want a military watch, but don't want to send Rolex 5517 prices, then look no further!
