Introduced in 1948, the Land Rover Series I debuted at the Amsterdam Motor Show. Inspired by the World War II Jeep, the Series 1 was designed by Maurice Wilks. The Series 1 was a four-wheel vehicle that retained a utilitarian look with the creature comforts of a luxury vehicle to appeal to a wider audience. The Series I ceased production in 1958 and was succeeded by the Series II.
