The above picture includes yours truly beside members of the Harvard Club Watch Club. As its monicker suggests, the informal club within the eponymous club celebrates cultural affinity between Harvard, J. Press, and wrist watches, however comically one must ascribe the obscure relationship. We were all on a first name basis as Crimson Watch enthusiasts Chris, Stefano and Alec embroider club activities snaring watch enthusiasts and important watch companies to The Harvard Club and in this instance J. Press. Per usual enhancing J. Squeeze galas the group was more than adequately garnished, this time by ethnic refreshments including Sushi provided by Sushi Chef Tab Bu washed down with Premier Dassai Blue Sake.
The sold-out event was initially sponsored by Grand Central Watch, which backs up many J. Press antique watch particulars and for multiple decades has shared practically next-door patrons with original owner Lawrence Kivel and son Steve on hand to present their watch collection at the event.
All this Crimson frou frou recalls fellow Loomis-Chaffee graduate, and Harvard singer-songwriter-satirist Tom Lehrer’s undying lyrics,
Fight, fiercely Harvard.
Nonetheless we have the will.
How shall we celebrate our victory?
We shall invite the whole team out for tea.
