A manual wind Bulova 10k rolled gold plate flip up frame watch. This is a rare and unusual watch with lovely sentiment behind its design. From the outside looking in it simply looks like many other tank shaped wrist watches from the 1950s. However, dig a little deeper and there is a special surprise on this watch. On the bottom of the case on the hinged lug is a small button that when pressed, flips the entire watch up revealing a hidden photograph frame. These days we take having images of our family and loved ones on our phone. Back in 1950 when this watched was launched, aside from keeping on in a bag or wallet, there would be no easy, secure or convenient way to carry a photograph on you at all times. Bulova solved this with this ingenious little watch. The watch itself is a very handsome and classic mid-century looking watch with stylized applied Arabic numerals, an outer minute track, and subsidiary seconds located at the 6 o’clock position. The watch is powered by an American made manual wind caliber 8AC movement which is working well. The watch is in excellent condition throughout with an unpolished case, and original dial. If you are looking for a conventional watch with a twist, it is quite hard to beat this lovely little piece.
