A solid 18k yellow gold Rolex Cellini cushion case manually wound watch. This was an example of Rolex making sophisticated and elegant more elevated dress watches.  This example highlights that.  It is a solid, heavy, beautiful made 18k gold case. An unusual cushion case with a distinctive engraved bezel, similar to some found on Oyster cases at the time, frames a clean, classic and simple gold dial.  All that can be found is the Rolex name and coronet and the Cellini name at the bottom of the dial in black print.

The Rolex Cellini collection was named after Benvenuto Cellini, a renowned Italian goldsmith, to honor the skill and graceful lines of his creations. The Cellini line was first introduced into Rolex's portfolio in the 1960s as a range of sophisticated dress watches, many featuring jewel settings.

Over the decades, Rolex has continued to expand the Cellini collection, releasing a variety of models for both men and women. In the 1970s, they introduced the Cellini Midas, and more recently, the Moonphase Cellini in 2017, which joined the existing Time, Date, and Dual Time models.

The early Cellini watches had a more simplified, time-only design with small gold cases and manual-winding mechanisms, reflecting the collection's delicate and refined nature. However, the Cellini line has evolved to become one of Rolex's most diverse offerings.

The contemporary Cellini Moonphase, the latest model, retains many of the collection's signature design elements. This 39mm, 18-carat Everose gold watch features a polished finish, a leather strap, and a white lacquer dial with a blue enameled disc at the 6 o'clock position displaying the moon phases.

In contrast to Rolex's more tool-oriented watches, the Cellini collection is geared towards a lifestyle of refined living, focusing less on activities or sports and more on elegant, smart design.

The watch itself is in good, unpolished, original condition. The case is strong and clean, the manually wound caliber 1601 movement is in superb condition and keeping excellent time.  The original dial has some patina to it, but nothing overly distracting.

Overall, this is a great, and affordable way to add the crown to your wrist, and watch collection.  Versatile, handsome and clean, this watch offers a distinctive and unique play on a time only watch
