An Automatic Bulova Oceanographer Snorkel 666. This superbly designed dive watch was introduced in the Bulova line in 1969, and was a break away from the more traditional dive watch introduced prior. The distinctive 'C' shape stainless steel case, use of red on the uni-directional bezel and on the dial with a cross hair design, bold wide hands filled with luminous material and lollipop sweep seconds hand are great "iconic" dive watch details. But, perhaps the most interesting design detail is the hour markers. They are claw set like little diamonds, but are in fact small round tubes of glass set with Tritium luminous material below which light up like little light bulbs underneath under UV light. The crystal has an incorporated magnification window over the date area aiding clarity. The watch is powered by an in-house Bulova automatic movement, the caliber 11BLACD, which although fairly rudimentary, is a work horse and has a cool 'B' logo cut out in the rotor. The screw back case, branded crown which is not a screw down, are all in exceptional original and unpolished condition. The watch overall is superb throughout.
