A stainless steel automatic Omega Seamaster De Ville. The iconic Seamaster line first appeared in the Omega line in 1948. This example is a more unusual “De Ville” version. De Ville would go on to become its own line under the Omega umbrella, it first appeared within the Seamaster collection. It is very much a 'classic' wrist watch that is hard to not like. An unfussy, clean case with small frame, fine straight lugs and simple, uncluttered dial make it a very easy watch to wear on a daily basis. This version without the date is even more easy on the eye with no additional complications. It is a practical, hard working watch, thanks to its hard working Omega automatic movement. The fine and clean pencil hands are filled in the center with luminous material, which is also found placed at the ends of each of the applied stick hour markers. All of which are present, in excellent condition and have aged to a handsome light laté colour, sitting along with the hashed minute track. The dial is stamped ’T Swiss Made T’ at the base meaning the luminous material used on the watch is Tritium..
The watch is powered by an Omega caliber 711 automatic movement. The 711 is a high jewel count 24 jewels, Swiss made, automatic movement that was found in various models in the 1960s, and was introduced by the brand circa 1966. This vintage calibre is in Omega’s signature copper plate movement oscillating at 19,800 vph, has no date, no hacking, the option of a sweep seconds hand, and a bi-directional automatic winding system with a power reserve of 42 hours, when new.
The handsome silver dial is signed Omega with the applied gold logo along with the printed Seamaster logo, with the later open, non - "coat hanger" style S all of which is original, and not re-finished. Please note here is a slight mark to the dial near the post of the hands. The winding crown is also original with the Omega logo applied to it. The screw back case back features the Seamaster seahorse logo and is in excellent unpolished condition. The watch is featured to this very rare and high quality stretch, riveted 1093 Omega bracelet in superb condition, and very tight with signed deployant closure. Overall, a great watch for anyone looking for clean vintage class. No fuss. No bells and whistles. Just a great looking time only watch, with a model reference ending 007, perfect for the James Bond fan! This will look great on with jeans and a t-shirt, along with a suit. A very versatile and easy to wear piece.
